CHRISTINE Born December 18, 1888 Died December 21, 1923 Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church in Shelbyville, Mo., Friday, December 23, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Albert Halliwell. Interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. CHAS. CHRISTINE FOUND DEAD AT MARYVILLE Well Known Young Farmer Apparently Victim of Foul Play—Body To Be Brought Here for Burial This community was shocked this morning when a message came to Mrs. C. H. Christine, east of town, stating that the body of a man answering the description of her husband had been found at Maryville, Mo. Telephone communication with the authorities at Maryville confirmed the earlier message and a brother, Jay Christine, and J. W. Thompson left at noon for Maryville to take charge of the body. A telegram received by the Herald from the Democrat-Forum of Maryville read as follows: "Man with name of M. Jensen on inside of army overcoat found dead late yesterday on Wabash right of way. Apparently murdered. Had birthday card addressed Mrs. C. P, Christian, Shelbyville, Mo. About 30 years old, 5 feet 4 inches." The name evidently was intended for Christine instead of Christian. The theory is that he was robbed and thrown from a moving train, as a search of his clothing revealed nothing but two postal cards and a handkerchief. Full particulars could not (word gone) learned to the time of going to (word gone). Christine was home a few days (word gone) was thought by his wife to (words gone) way to Nebraska. He had (words gone) been working in Iowa. The family have the deepest sympathy (words gone) people of this community in their bereavement.
