Description	:	The Herald, Piedmont, West Virginia, Tuesday 19 February 1985: "Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, Md., for Charles Henry Kelly, 85, a native of Piedmont, who died last Monday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Burial was in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cumberland. He was a son of the late William T. and May (Bell) Kelly. A graduate of St. Peter's School in Westernport, Mr. Kelly received his Associate of Arts degree from Potomac State College and his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 1951. Burial was in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cumberland. He was a son of the late William T. and May (Bell) Kelly. A graduate of St. Peter's School in Westernport, Mr. Kelly received his Associate of Arts degree from Potomac State College and his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 1951. He was employed on the editorial staff of The Cumberland News 32 years, retiring in 1983. Mr. Kelly covered a variety of beats and assignments but was best remembered for his work as a police, fire and courts reporter as Tri-States editor. He also contributed to the "Perspectives" column on the editorial page prior to and after his retirement. During World War II he served in the U. S. Army, stationed in England, France, Germany and Czechoslovakia. Mr. Kelly was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Cumberland, Council 586, of which he was a member. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine R. (McKenzie) Kelly; three brothers, James T. Kelly, Sterling, Va.; Philip Kelly, Rawlings, Md., and John M. Kelly, Palatine, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Skidmore, Fort Myers, Florida and Mrs. Margaret McFarland of Herndon, Va., and a number of nieces and nephews."
