Description	:	Although the tombstone states his birth year is 1864, his death certificate states 1869 and his Social Security Application states 1866. I have felt that the 1866 date was the most accurate as someone filled out the SSA for him, obtaining the information directly from him. The 1940 Census also indicates his birth year is 1866. The Census taker placed an X by his name indicating that he obtained the information directly from Charles Henry Platt. There is NO documentation that Charles Henry Platt is the son of John Tyler Plott and Samantha Hedden, so please do not add that information to your tree. Here is my reasoning behind this: The 1870 Census has John Tyler and Samantha PLOTT living alone in Clay County NC. CHP was born in 1860s in Fayetteville is not listed as a child. For that matter, no children were born to this couple prior to 1870. If he is their child, then why did CHP believe he was from Fayetteville and why did he visit family in Hope Mills as my father said? In the 1880 Census they have children, none of which are Charles Henry Platt. There is a Henry Plott, who is 5 years old. Henry lived to adulthood, but died much earlier than CHP, who we know died in 1946 as indicated on his grave. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/66544800/henry-plott I have also found no DNA match to anyone who is reported to be related to John Tyler Plott. I also have CHPs Social Security Application which states that his mother was Sarah Essom and birthplace is always noted as Fayetteville, NC. Family history indicated his mother was Sarah who married a Rand. I found a Sarah Essom who married a Thomas Rann in the Fayetteville area. I have DNA connections to numerous Eason/Essom/Easom families in the Fayetteville area. If you would please delete this connection if you have it in your tree, the Platt Family would appreciate it.
