He was born on June 13, 1921, in Norfolk, Neb., to his parents Charles Dole Roscoe and the former Edna Mae Lewis. He was born on June 13, 1921, in Norfolk, Neb., to his parents Charles Dole Roscoe and the former Edna Mae Lewis. He spent four years in the United States Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic during World War II and was honorably discharged from the military as a tech sergeant in 1945. Charles married his high school sweetheart Lorene on Dec. 23, 1941. They made their home at Sunnyside, Wash., where he was a truck driver for Western Farmers Association for 38 years, delivering fuel products to the area's farmers. After retiring from there, he was caretaker at Lost Creek Village in Naches, Wash., which is a Christian Camp in the mountains owned by the Union Gospel Mission of Yakima, Wash., serving there for seven years. Together, Charles and Lorene raised seven children, two boys David and Steven, who have gone into God's presence, and five girls, Patricia, husband Don England, Lincoln City, Ore., Glenyce, husband Garry Hopper, Sunnyside, Wash., Bonita, husband Rio Mullin, Pryor, Okla., Marilyn, husband Rick Baldwin, Tonasket, Wash., and Karlyn, husband Earl Wessel, Chiloquin, Ore., plus numerous other relatives. Charles' funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, Wash., with concluding graveside services at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, also in Sunnyside. Visitation for friends will be held today, Friday, at the Chapel from 3 to 5 p.m. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors, is in charge of the arrangements.
