Description	:	RUSH, CHARLES HOMER, (Feb 12, 1914-Feb 16, 1989), An elderly Millersburg man was killed Thursday night and a passenger in his car seriously injured when he drove his vehicle into the back of an oil rig on Ohio 179 at County Road 175, two miles south of Mohicanville. Read More	RUSH, CHARLES HOMER, (Feb 12, 1914-Feb 16, 1989), An elderly Millersburg man was killed Thursday night and a passenger in his car seriously injured when he drove his vehicle into the back of an oil rig on Ohio 179 at County Road 175, two miles south of Mohicanville. Charles Homer Rush, 75, Millersburg, was dead at the scene of the 8 p.m. accident. County Coroner Dr. William M. Emery ruled that Rush died of head injuries including a fractured skull. His passenger, Kathryn L. Chambers, 67, also of Millersburg, was listed this morning in stable condition in the surgical intensive care unit of Mansfield General Hospital. She was first taken to Kettering Mohican Area Medical Center by the Loudonville Emergency Squad and was later transferred to Mansfield. Glenn L. Davis, 34, Lucas, the driver of the oil rig from Ohio Oil and Gas, was not injured in the accident. According to Trooper Dan Lay of the Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol, Davis, after his rig was previously disabled on County Road 175, backed from the county road onto the northeast berm of Ohio 179, just before the accident occurred. The trooper said that Davis proceeded to pull onto Ohio 179 and began driving south when his rig was struck in the right rear side by Rush, who was driving a Chevy Suburban. It was estimated that Davis was traveling about 10 mph and it is unknown what speed the Rush vehicle was going. Neither Rush or Chambers was wearing a seat belt. No citation was issued, but the accident is still under investigation. Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete. Thomas Hoover will officiate. Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville. Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Rush, 75, of Millersburg, was fatally injured in an automobile accident Thursday night south of Mohicanville. Kathryn Chambers, who lived with him and who was a passenger in the car, was listed in stable condition Friday in the surgical intensive care unit at Mansfield General Hospital. He was born in Hayesville Feb. 12, 1914, the son of Charles and Lottie Shenberger Rush. He had lived most of his life in Hayesville. He was a member of Hayesville United Methodist Church. He was a retired bricklayer and a member of the bricklayers union. He was a social member of Hayesville Amvets and a member of the Holiday Ramblers. Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Ann Dudte of Fredericktown and Sharon Cline of Prattville, Ala.; three sons, Roger (Bud) of Magalia, Calif., William E. of Solon and Robert L. of Jeromesville; three stepdaughters, Linda Wood and Joanne Obrecht, both of Ashland and Janet Rush of Jeromesville; two stepsons, James Obrecht of Shreve and Jerry Obrecht of Loudonville; 14 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Theiss of Snohomish, Wash.; and one brother, Harold of Hayesville. He was preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn Echelberger Rush on April 23, 1969 and his second wife, Catherine Brownson Rush on June 6, 1980.
