Description	:	Charles Howard "Chuck" Brass, 67, passed away August 4, 2014, at his home south of Coldwater, KS. He was born November 25, 1946 in Hardtner, KS to Robert Winter and Marian Hawkes Brass. Chuck graduated from Coldwater High School in 1965 and Southwestern College, Winfield, KS, 1970. As a high school senior, Chuck was the Kansas state champion in the pole vault and always excelled in football. After graduating from college,... Read More	Charles Howard "Chuck" Brass, 67, passed away August 4, 2014, at his home south of Coldwater, KS. He was born November 25, 1946 in Hardtner, KS to Robert Winter and Marian Hawkes Brass. Chuck graduated from Coldwater High School in 1965 and Southwestern College, Winfield, KS, 1970. As a high school senior, Chuck was the Kansas state champion in the pole vault and always excelled in football. Additionally, as a student athlete at Southwestern College, he was named NAIA All American defensive linebacker. In 2005, Chuck was inducted into the Southwestern College Sports Hall of Fame. After graduating from college, he served in the United States Army. Third generation rancher and cowboy, Chuck loved caring for cattle, was always thankful for good grass, and appreciated a good saddle horse. During a conversation with friends a few months ago, Chuck was asked if there were places he wanted to visit or things he wanted to do. His remark was, "I wanted two things…I wanted to be a good athlete and I wanted to be a cowboy!" He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandparents: Howard and Jeanne Brass. On October 1, 1983, he married Diane "Chickie" Addison in McLean, TX. She survives. Chuck is also survived by his son: Ben and wife Freedom of Junction City, KS; daughter: Jessie Fisk and husband Chris of Medford, OR; brothers: Steve Brass and wife Patty of McLean, TX and Ron Beeley of Alta Loma, CA; sisters: Martha Bewley and husband Jim of Pueblo, CO and Ellen Sweeney and husband Mike of Leawood, KS; grandchildren: Chloe and Clancy Brass, and Avery and Shaunnessy Fisk. In addition, he is survived by his nephew and partner: Shaun Scott of Sedan, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service is at 10:00 a.m., August 9, 2014 at the Comanche County Fairgrounds Hangar Building in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor John Paul presiding. Memorials may be sent to Comanche County 4-H or South Wind Hospice in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
