He was a member of First Baptist Church of Astor and a former member of Fairview Baptist Church, Watauga. He had served in the United States Army and also the United States Air Force. He was a member of Watauga Masonic Lodge #622. Funeral services for Charles Hubert Hyder III, 69, were conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2001at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Watauga Masonic Lodge #622 will conduct a memorial service following the funeral service.
