Description	:	Charles Jason Wray, 83,of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was born north of Corydon, Iowa on December 11, 1929, to Clyde and Ethel (Cook) Wray and graduated from Allerton High School in 1947. He served in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. Read More	Charles Jason Wray, 83,of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was born north of Corydon, Iowa on December 11, 1929, to Clyde and Ethel (Cook) Wray and graduated from Allerton High School in 1947. He served in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. Following his honorable discharge and return home he married Coleen (Brown) Wray on November 21, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Russell, Rhonda, and Ruth Ann. During his career, Charles served as the Wayne County Treasurer, was a loan officer at Corydon State Bank, and later worked in banks at Eddyville, Iowa, Sumner, Iowa, Elbow Lake, Minnesota, and retired from the bank in Elk Point, South Dakota where he currently resided. Charles and Coleen were avid golfers and loved to travel. They also spent many hours around the kitchen table playing cards with family and friends. A proud accomplishment of Chuck's was visiting all 50 states. Woodworking was another favorite pastime. Charles was active in many civic organizations including the Corydon American Legion, Corydon City Council, Corydon Volunteer Fire Department, Economic Development Committees, Lions Club including district and state offices in South Dakota, Free Masons, member of Elk Point United Parish Church, and Elk Point Medical Clinic Board of Directors. He lived a very full life and enjoyed each and every moments. Survivors include his son, Russell and wife, Roxie of Mapleton, Iow; his daughters, Rhonda Bennett of Allerton, Iowa and Ruth Pitkin and husband, Kevin of Harlan, Iowa; six grandchildren: Justin Bennett and wife, Jessica; Kandis Wray, Matt Bennett and wife, Dawn; Andy Wray, Ben Pitkin, and Brent Pitkin; eight great-grandchildren: Jacob Rains, Jada Rains, Julia Bennett, Dayne Bennett, Joelle Bennett, Kinley Bennett, Josiah Bennett, and Briella Bennett; his sister, Clydine Birkland and husband, Harold; and a host of other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Coleen, parents Clyde and Ethel Wray, brother-in-law Kenneth Murrow, and son-in-law Gary Bennett. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the South Dakota Lions Eye Bank. Visitation: at United Parish 603 South Pearl Street Elk Point South Dakota 57025 Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1st at the Elk Point United Parish in Elk Point, South Dakota. Service: Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1st at the Elk Point United Parish in Elk Point, South Dakota with Pastor David Bambas officiating. Cemetery: Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2nd at the Allerton Cemetery in Allerton, Iowa with military honors.
