Neva Mae Haines Obituary Last evening at 5 o'clock, at the home himself and his family had occupied but a short time, 132 First avenue west, occurred the death of Charles J. Haines. The grief for his loss extends far beyond the circle of his family and relatives, where it is a crushing sorrow, for he had been a man of all good ports, loved and respected by all with whom he had come in contact in a social or business way. His business career began in Urbana, Benton county, where he had been successful, and where he remained until eighteen months ago, at which time he came to Marion and became a member of the firm of Knowlton & Haines, shoes. This business he abandoned in order to devote his entire time to extensive real estate interests, and came to Cedar Rapids to be near other members of the family. His removal to this city was on October 3, and he had been ill of typhoid fever for just three weeks at the time of his death. Charles J. Haines had always been unobtrusive and sincere, and as a consequence was called to work suited to such a nature. A member of the First Christian church at Marion he had been made superintendent of the Sabbath school. II in only fraternity connection have membership with the Odd Urbana. Charles J. Haines was born in Washington county, Ohio, Aug. 27, 1863, and besides the members of his immediate family has a large number of relatives in this part of the state. The wife, formerly. Elva Ashlock, and four children survive. The children are Freddie, 17; Earl, 14; Oma, 10; Neva, 4. This is the second death that has come to the family, the father having died in 1899. The mother, Mrs. E. C. Haines, and eight brothers and sisters survive. it was the sunshine penetrating the shadow that all these brothers and sisters could lie with him in the last days, as he had been to them. The sisters are Mrs. E. Tenney, Hazleton, Iowa. Mrs. Edgar Gee, Mrs Fred Moyer, Mrs. Harry Hadsell, Cedar Rapids: Mrs. E. R. Cook, Butte, Montana and Mrs. R.E J. Thompson of Oklahoma. The brothers are T. J. Haines, center Point. And Glen O. Haines, Cedar Rapids. Short Services will be held at the at the house tomorrow morning and at 7:55 the remains will be taken to Center Point for Interment. Not wholly in sorrow are the friends and relatives who have the memory of such a Treasure of love
