Karl Johann was born in Oesterbelmhusen near Brunsbuettel, in Schleswig - Holstein Germany. The Wittrock family had moved about 5 miles south of Eddelak after the birth of Emil Johannes and were now in the St. Jacobus Church Parish of Brunsbuettel Karl Johann was baptized on 15 June 1878 in the St. Jacobus Church and died on 19 June 1944 in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County SD and was buried on 22 June 1944 in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Karl Johann was married to Julia Matilda Uda on 5 February 1908 in Sioux Falls. Julia Matilda Uda was the sister of Emma Jane Uda, the wife of Heine Wittrock, and the daughter of Frederick/Fred Carl Uda (born June 1851 Germany - died ?) and his first wife Louise/Lucy, who was born in 1851 in WI and died about 1897. Julia Matilda Uda was born on 5 February 1883 in Verdi twp., Lake Benton County MN and died on 15 October 1953 in Sioux Falls and was buried on 19 October in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Julia Matilda was married second to Charles J. Johnson in 1947. Karl is a boarder at the home of James Bottger in Richland twp. Lyon County IA in the 1900 census. Emma Uda was living with Karl and Julia Uda Wittrock according to the 1910 census, and that was probably how she met Karl's brother Heine, who she married in 1914. Karl/Charles John Wittrock registered for WW I in Minnehaha County. Karl Johann and Julia Matilda Uda Wittrock had the following children: Rosa/Rose Luella was born on 26 August 1908 (seven months after parent's marriage) in Minnehaha County and died on 11 November 1930 in Sioux Falls. Rosa Luella was married on 20 June 1928 in McCook County SD to Vern Ellsworth Caldwell (7 September 1903 - 14 October 1979). Lillian/Lilly Florence was born on 30 January 1910 in Southdale twp. William/Willie/Bill Francis was born on 9 October 1916 in Pipestone County MN and died on 23 March 2004 in Apache Junction AZ and was buried on 2 April in the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls. William Francis was married to Palma Gladys Orvilla Styke (1 August 1911 - 15 February 2008) on 31 December 1947 in Lincoln County SD. George Henry was born on 15 February 1918 in Minnehaha County and died on 17 July 1936, having drowned in the Drake Swimming Pool in Sioux Falls.
