Charles John Mullinnix was born on August 8, 1930, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the son of Floyd L. and Lenore M. (Cerny) Mullinnix. Charles was a graduate of Lone Tree High School. He entered into the Army in 1951. He served in Korea as a Sgt from 1952 through 1953 as a tank machine gunner. On January 26, 1954, Charles was united in marriage to Wilma J. Cooney at St. Mary’s Church in Riverside. Charles farmed in Johnson County. He did Custom Corn Shelling, and then worked for Oral B in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Lone Tree and Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Charles enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking, helping at the farm, but most of all spending time with his family. Charles will be deeply missed by his wife Wilma; children, Gary (Terri) Mullinnix; Catherine (Allan) Sexton and Janice Mullinnix; grandchildren, Dawn Jarrard, Chad (Saralyn) Mullinnix, Corisa (Jamie) Sexton, Jason (Kimberly) Sexton, Tamra (Dan) Roberts, Tonya (Dave) Wageman, Renae (Joe) Williams, Katie Rincon; 13 great-grandchildren and two on the way; brothers, Don (Donna) Mullinnix of Riverside and Gene Mullinnix of Lone Tree and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Mullinnix; brother, Bill Mullinnix and his in laws, Thomas and Elma Cooney.
