Born July 13, 1932, at Pleasant Valley, he was the son of the late Anna (Kerns) Ahern Hartley and George E. Ahern. His stepfather, Floyd Hartley and a brother, James Ahern, also preceded him in death. Mr. Ahern was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver. Read More	WESTERNPORT — Charles Junior Ahern, 76, of 25701 Shady Lane, Westernport, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va. Born July 13, 1932, at Pleasant Valley, he was the son of the late Anna (Kerns) Ahern Hartley and George E. Ahern. His stepfather, Floyd Hartley and a brother, James Ahern, also preceded him in death. Mr. Ahern was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post 71 Oakland, a member of the Deer Park V.F.W., a member of the Deer Park Sportsmen Club, a member of Black Hawk Tribe 131 Improved Order of Redmen, Westernport, and a member of BPO Elks Lodge 2481, Oakland. He leaves behind two sons, Charley Ahern and wife Debbie, of Accident, and Michael Ahern and wife Nancy, of Indian Head; three daughters, Cathy Helbig and husband Gene, of Oakland, Sharon Fulk and fiancé Merle Weeks, of Oakland, and Rebecca Baird and husband Michael, of Crofton; four brothers, Donald, Roy, and Daniel Ahern, all of Oakland, and Raymond Ahern, of Cleburne, Texas. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his special companion, Pat Lloyd and her family, Bobby Lloyd and wife Tara, of McHenry, Tammy Lawson and husband Tim, of Friendsville, William Lloyd and wife Carla, of Beulah, N.D, and granddaughter, Megan Hummel, of Friendsville. At Mr. Ahern’s request, his body was cremated. Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Phillip Matthews officiating. Inurnment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post 71, along with Improved Order of Redmen graveside services.
