Charles came to the United States aboard the ship Jason on May 22, 1850. Charles and Amelia got married in 1850 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They had 11 children: John, Roseanna, Louis E., Henry, George T., William F., Maria Sophia (Mary), Maria Katharina (Katherine), Elizabeth, Johanna C. W. (Hannah) and Sophie Taubel. He was paralyzed after the fall and returned promptly to his home in Riverside, New Jersey. He died at his home. The following obituary for Charles was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer on October 10, 1905. DIES AS A RESULT OF FALL Special To The Inquirer Riverside, N. J., October 9. -- As the result of injuries sustained by a fall, one of the oldest residents of this place, is dead at his home here. Mr. Taubel was visiting relatives in Philadelphia and fell down a cellar. The shock caused paralysis and the aged man was immediately removed to his home here, where his death occured late Saturday night. Mr. Taubel was 84 years old. Another obituary for Charles was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer on October 10, 1905. TAUBEL -- Riverside, N. J., October 8, 1905, Charles Taubel, in his 83rd year. Relatives and friends invited to attend funeral, Tuesday, 2 P.M., from his late residence, 139 Webster Street, Riverside, N. J. Interment Riverside. Train leaves Market Street Ferry, 12 M for Riverside station. NOTE: The obituaries above all say different dates that Charles died. One of the obituaries says that he died late on a Saturday night. If this is correct, than he died on October 7, 1905 (which is what I have).
