Description	:	Charles K. Mahan Charles K. Mahan, 74, died Sunday, April 17, 1994, at his residence following a short illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence L McCarty officiating. The body will be cremated after the service and the ashes will be buried at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton SD. He lived most of his life in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School. He married Lillian J. Vellek August 7, 1946 in Yankton. She died March 13, 1975 in Yankton. He was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers for 20 years, retiring in 1975. He moved to Sioux City to live with his sister in 1992. Mr. Mahan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge 994 of Yankton. He served in the 147th Army National Guard from 1940 until 1945, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Ernest Bowyer Post 791, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Yankton. Survivors included: two sons and their wives, Charles and Sandy Mahan and Sean and Dianne Mahan, all of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Debra Mahan and Patricia and her husband Bill Zoberst, all of Seattle; four brothers, William "Bill" Mahan of Sioux City, James Mahan of Del Ray, Calif., Donald Mahan of Sun City West, Ariz., and Jack Mahan of Carmichael, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Littleton, Colo., and Marguerite Mahan of Sioux City; and three grandchildren.
