Read More	The son of Civil War veteran, William Henry Crouse and Cecelia Louise (Smith) Crouse, he was born Aug. 3, 1873 in Mills County. He was the fifth of fifteen children. He was the brother of John Tysin Crouse, Cora Alice Crouse, identical twins Franklin Aaron Crouse and Aaron Franklin Crouse, George Lafayette Crouse, Anna Catherine Crouse, James Crouse, Mary Rebecca Crouse, Eugene Harold Crouse, Dora Crouse, Lillian Elizabeth Crouse, Daniel Gearhardt Crouse, Edna Mae Crouse and Henry Dealton Crouse. All grew to adulthood. He married Minnie Louella Porter. To this union were born a son Orville Leslie Crouse and a daughter, Beulah Louise Crouse. "Charlie" was a wonderful grandfather to his precious grandchildren Betty Ann Rapp, Lillie Mae Clausen, Marjory Berg, Leslie Crouse and Charles Charles. A farmer, he lived most of his life in Webster County and Brushy Creek, Iowa. He and Minnie were later divorced. In later years, he married Mrs. Phoebe Smith and moved to Red Oak, Iowa. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Red Oak. He was known as "Charlie" to his adoring family. He was a deeply religious man who wrote a prayer he said faithfully at every meal. Rites were held at the First Baptist Church in Red Oak on Monday, April 9, for Charles, 88, who passed away Thursday at his home in Red Oak following a heart attack. He had been ill for the past three years. Rev. Asa C. Popp was in charge of the services. Charles is survived by his daughter, Beulah Williams (John) of Fort Dodge; six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mary Hudson of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Lillie Clausen of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Edna Hoover of Lehigh, Frank Crouse of Duncombe, Dee Crouse of Lehigh, and Gene Crouse of Malvern; all 5 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; also his step children, Mrs. Mary A. Anderson of Hastings, Mrs. Minnie Rice of Stinnett, Texas, Glenn Smith of Council Bluffs, Richard H. Smith of Washington State, and Marion Smith of Red Oak. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery with Sellergren Funeral Home in charge. Malvern Leader, Thursday, April 12, 1962
