Charles Leigh Seaman, 87, of Warner, SD passed away on Friday, January 14, 2021 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. Chuck was born on June 9, 1934 to Charles (Leigh) Seaman and Adaline (Rogers) Seaman in Aberdeen. After graduating from Warner High School in 1952, he went on to South Dakota State College graduating with an undergraduate degree in economics. Charles also attained a Masters Degree in banking from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison Wisconsin. Upon completing his degree Charles returned home to work at the family business First State Bank of Warner. Chuck married the love of his life Darilyn Dayle Binger on June 14, 1959 at Tulare, South Dakota. They were married for 62 years. From this union came 3 children Grant (Lori) Seaman of Warner, South Dakota, Julie (Keith) Kayser of Alexandria, South Dakota, and Bradley Seaman of Aberdeen, South Dakota. Chuck was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Charity Pionk of Aberdeen, SD, JayCee Seaman, Aberdeen, SD, Chance Pionk of Delray Beach, Florida, Landon (Elizabeth) Seaman, Warner, SD, Tanner Seaman of Aberdeen, SD, Seth (Abby) Kayser of Sioux Falls, SD, Bridget Kayser (Sawyer Barth) of Volga, SD, Connor Seaman of Mobridge, SD, Parker Seaman of Minneapolis, MN, and Bess Seaman of Warner, SD. Chuck was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren. Chuck's career at First State Bank of Warner spanned from his college graduation to his retirement in 1996, with a brief interval 1967-1969 when he served as Superintendent of Banks of South Dakota. In 1971 Chuck began a business partnership with long-time friend Gene Holsing at First State Bank of Warner and H&S Insurance Agency. Chuck was a veteran serving in the Army Reserves and was called up to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. During his long career Chuck served on numerous boards and organizations. Notable among these he was a past president of the South Dakota Bankers Association, member of the American Bankers Association Board of Directors, and Board Member of the 9th District Federal Reserve Bank. Chuck enjoyed hunting with friends, and tolerated fishing, but his true passion was golf, eventually amassing 4 holes in one. He and Darilyn especially enjoyed their winters spent in Palm Springs indulging his passion for golf and hatred of cold weather. Chuck is survived by his wife Darilyn, his children and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles (Leigh) Seaman and Adaline Seaman, his sister Elizabeth Duckworth, and brothers in law Jerry Binger and Bill Duckworth, sister in law Della Belle Binger. Chuck's family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the outstanding and compassionate care he received from the staff at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen.
