Charles went to his home in heaven on Sunday June 5, 2011. Charles Leo Caskey was born February 26, 1944 in Norfolk to Larry and Robinette (Luedeke) Caskey. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stanton. His father and uncle impressed a strong work ethic on him at an early age at the family business, Luedeke Oil Company. He attended Stanton Public Schools, competing in athletics, and graduated from Stanton High School in 1962. He attended Norfolk Junior College and graduated from the University of Nebraska - College of Business Administration in 1966. His strong desire to help people influenced him to enter the legal field and he graduated from the University of Nebraska - College of Law in 1969. He married Rae Stevenson at St. John's Lutheran Church in 1965. Following his graduation from law school they settled in Stanton and he began his legal career with T.L. Grady Law Office. He purchased the practice in 1979 and named the business Caskey Law Office. He served as Stanton County Attorney for several terms. In 1982 he obtained his abstractor's license and formed Stanton County Abstract Co. Inc., eventually expanding the business into several Northeast Nebraska communities. Charles was a member of the Stanton Community Club and served as President of the Stanton Booster Club and the Stanton Community Schools Board of Education for several years. He was a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, the UNL Beef Club, and the Nebraska Alumni Association. Charles began and ended each day with his Bible and his love for his Savior influenced every facet of his life. He was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stanton and served as Chairman, Elder and Trustee for several years, also serving on the WELS District Mission board. He loved the land and enjoyed working outdoors, he was an avid reader, particularly of American history, and enjoyed cycling and boating. Charles loved Christmas. His passions included family vacations at Lake Okoboji, attending University of Nebraska athletic events, especially Husker football games, and washing cars. Charles collected model trains, Conoco artifacts, Hot Wheels, John Deere miniatures, kites, stamps, and Husker memorabilia. He turned up the volume for the music of the 60's, John Denver and marching bands. His work gave him the opportunity to travel Nebraska extensively and he always knew someone wherever he went. Known as Charles, Charlie or Chuck, he will be greatly missed by his loving wife Rae and his children Christopher and Amy Caskey of Parker, CO, Brady and Kendra Caskey of Ogallala, Dana and Brett Bixenmann of Plano, TX, Drew Caskey of Waco, TX, and Blair and Zach Molacek of Overland Park, KS; loving and proud Papa to his grandchildren Cooper, Quincy, Campbell and Ramsey Caskey; Gabby, Harry, Laney and Charlie Caskey; and Lane Molacek; 2 sisters Susan and Dan Watts of Grand Rapids, MI, Jean Caskey of the Cayman Islands; 1 brother Dan Caskey of Stanton; niece and nephews.
