Description	:	Charles M. Garber, pioneer resident of Grand Junction and for many years prominent and influential in the municipal government, died last night at his home at 142 West Rood road from a heart attack. He was 72 years old at the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Garber came to this city in 1895 and is among the oldest residents of this city. Garber, pioneer resident of Grand Junction and for many years prominent and influential in the municipal government, died last night at his home at 142 West Rood road from a heart attack. He was 72 years old at the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Garber came to this city in 1895 and is among the oldest residents of this city. Mr. Garber was throughout his many years residence here in all civic affairs. In 1916 he succeeded William Vender upon the latter’s death as water commissioner of Grand Junction. He held this post up until 1923 when he was forced to resign because of failing health. On recent years he had been employed by the city as a caretaker of Emerson Park. Mr. Garber had been in poor health for a number of years, but was not seriously until about a week ago. Since that time he had been confined to his bed. He passed away last night about 1 a.m. from a heart attack. He was born in Illinois in 1860 and came to this valley in 1895. He has resided here continuously since that time. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charles M. Garber, sister. Mrs. H. A. Porter of Grand Valley; five sons, Guy, Glenn, Ray, Arthur of Grand Junction, and Roy Garber residing at Twin Falls, Mont., and five daughters, Mrs. E. F. Ransay, Mrs. Cart Lamberson, Mrs. Lovo Barto, and Mildred and Dorothy Garber all of this city. No funeral arrangements have yet been made as members of the family are waiting to receive word from relatives who live in other cities. The body is at the Martin Funeral home.
