He was born on April 13, 1927, during a blizzard south of Ekalaka, to Lawrence and Bonnie (Brandley) Peabody. Peabody, 75, was called to his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 19, 2002, and died peacefully with his wife, Ann, by his side. He was born on April 13, 1927, during a blizzard south of Ekalaka, to Lawrence and Bonnie (Brandley) Peabody. Charles worked at several ranches in Montana; Paddlock Ranch, Labrees Ranch, Soap Creek Cattle Co., and Iverson's Ranch. He broke horses, ran cattle, shod horses as only a genuine cowboy could. A WWII veteran, he came home and met his wife to be, Ann (maiden name withheld for privacy purposes), at Eaton's Dude Ranch in Sheridan, Wyo., and they exchanged vows in Red Lodge on Oct. 1, 1952. After working on ranches, Charles became a livestock inspector for the state of Montana in 1962 in Billings and went on to market in Sidney and Miles City. In 1966, he moved his family to Bozeman to further his career. He became the district Livestock Investigator for the counties of Gallatin, Park, Madison, Jefferson and Meagher. He retired from the state in 1987, and moved to Joliet for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed his family, livestock, garden, cooking, traveling, and most of all, being with Ann. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence, and mother Bonnie; twin brothers Bob and Lester; and brothers Ted and Everett. (Surviving family omitted for privacy purposes) Funeral services at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Joliet Lutheran Church. The family has entrusted the arrangements with Cremation or Funeral Gallery. Memorials may be sent to the Beartooth Hospice, Joliet Lutheran, or a charity of one's choice.
