Description	:	Charles Newton Spitler Jr., 95, of 1080 S. Antioch Road, Luray, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Page Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 27, 1916, in Luray, and was a son of the late Charles Newton Spitler Sr. and Bessie Varner Spitler. Mr. Spitler was a lifetime farmer and a bus driver for Page County Public Schools for 26 years. Read More	Charles Newton Spitler Jr., 95, of 1080 S. Antioch Road, Luray, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Page Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 27, 1916, in Luray, and was a son of the late Charles Newton Spitler Sr. and Bessie Varner Spitler. Mr. Spitler was a lifetime farmer and a bus driver for Page County Public Schools for 26 years. He was a member of the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren, where he was a past deacon and served on the church board. He served 16 years on the board of directors for Shenandoah's Pride and was a member of the Luray Ruritan Club for more than 50 years, where he served as past district and zone governor. On May 15, 1938, he married the former Marie Mae Dovel, who died on March 1, 2010. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia S. Painter and husband, Irvin Painter, and Susan S. Campbell and husband, Lawrence Campbell, all of Luray, and Janet S. Hatcher and husband, Ronald Hatcher, of Staunton; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clark, Nathan and Otis Spitler; and two sisters, Linda V. Smith and Aileen S. Hite. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren by Pastor Gary Major and Pastor Cecil Haycock. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren Improvements Fund, in care of Marie Ryman, 176 Sedwick Road, Luray, VA 22835
