Description	:	Grandpa Red was the second of three children born to George and Benizia "Bessie" M. (Adorni) Sobol. His father passed away in 1912, leaving Bessie a widow with five children: Josephine Rossi* (age 12), Marion Rossi* (age 8), Eve Antoinette (age 6), Grandpa (age 4) and May (3 months). Bessie later married Joseph Panelli and they had one son, Jeno (Gino) in 1914. By 1957, Bessie was once again a widow. Grandpa married my grandmother, Ellen (Lolax) Abrahamson, on February 15, 1938, in Josephine County, OR, and they were together until she passed away in 1986.... Grandpa married my grandmother, Ellen (Lolax) Abrahamson, on February 15, 1938, in Josephine County, OR, and they were together until she passed away in 1986. They lived at 529 O Street, Fortuna, for decades. It's the only home I remember them living in. He served with the U. S. Navy Seabees from October 20, 1943, through May 7, 1945. After returning from the service he worked for various employers in the timber industry. He started working for the Pacific Lumber Company in 1959 and worked in the woods as a choker setter, timber faller and scaler until he retired. Grandpa was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen; his father, George, and his mother, Bessie Sobol Panelli; both of his sisters, Eve (1906-1986) and May Banducci (1912-1951), his half-brother Marion Rossi (1904-1981), his half-sister Josephine Rossi (1901-1988), and his half-brother Jeno (Gino) Panelli (1914-1987). He was survived by his stepson, Gerald "Jerry" (Velda) Abrahamson and his granddaughters, Mary, Janet and DeeAnne Abrahamson. *Josephine and Marion Rossi are Grandpa's half-sister and half-brother from his mother's first marriage to Domenico Rossi (1874-1905).
