Description	:	Van Buren county lost a good citizen early Friday morning December 20, 1935, when Dr. C.N. Stephenson passed away at Ottumwa hospital where he had been since the preceding Sunday. His death was caused by sinus infection and pneumonia resulting from a relapse after an illness of influenza. Read More	Van Buren county lost a good citizen early Friday morning December 20, 1935, when Dr. C.N. Stephenson passed away at Ottumwa hospital where he had been since the preceding Sunday. His death was caused by sinus infection and pneumonia resulting from a relapse after an illness of influenza. He had resumed his practice following the influenza when the relapse came and he became ill so rapidly that it was soon known his condition was critical. He was one of the best known citizens of Milton and of the county, having been engaged in the practice of medicine at Milton for 28 years. Dr. Stephenson was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Presbyterian church, Knights of Pythias lodge, Milton board of education, and the Van Buren County Medical society. He was born fifty years ago on a farm near Troy and had spent all of his life in the vicinity of Troy and Milton except when attending college. Surviving his untimely decease are his wife, Addie Moon Stephenson, two sons, Charles and William, medical and dental students at Creighton university, Omaha Nebraska, and one daughter Marjorie of Milton high school. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Ella Lindsay of Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Huddleston of Milton and Mrs. Barnes of northern Iowa. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at one p.m. Sunday afternoon conducted by the pastor of the church, Dr. L.B. Harmon of the Bible department of Parsons College of Fairfield. Burial was in the Troy Cemetery. Mrs. Stephenson was also in Ottumwa hospital last week because of throat trouble, but at last report was improving. The pall bearers were Van Buren county physicians: Dr. F. J. Graber of Stockport, Dr. E.E. Sherman of Keosauqua, Dr. J.W. Webb of Bonaparte, Dr. L.A. Coffin of Farmington, and Dr. Roscoe Pollock of Douds. All other members of the Van Buren County Medical society were honorary pall bearers. Several physicians of southeast Iowa attended the funeral. When Dr. Stephenson knew that his death was imminent he requested that his funeral service be as quiet as possible and that there be no music, also that his body be placed in the cemetery near his old home at Troy. Relatives from a distance who attended the services were Mrs. Ella Lindsay and D.V. Lindsay of Chicago, Mrs. Helen Barnes of Gilman Iowa, and Mr and Mrs. Fred Kick and daughter, Gertrude, of Farmington Iowa. (Obit thanks to contributor #47872666)
