Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, DeWitt, Iowa, with the Reverend H. Robert Harness as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with a luncheon following the burial at Buzzy’s in Welton. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:45 p.m. given by the members of the local council of the Knights of Columbus and a prayer service given by Sister Theresa Ann Spitz at 8 p.m. Chuck was born March 29, 1922, to Charles F. and Lillian (Reed) Hunter. Charles was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. He married Yvonne Budde (daughter of Alfred and Lucille Budde of Maquoketa) on October 3, 1945, in Maquoketa. Among Chuck’s greatest joys were his family and his lifelong occupation of farming. His family feels blessed as "he couldn’t have been a better father and grandfather." Chuck was an active member of the Iowa Farmer Union, Democratic Party, and St. Joseph’s Parish, DeWitt, and a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Knights of Columbus Local Council. He will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his five children: four sons, Michael and his wife Sheila, Bellevue, Iowa, Steve and his wife Mary Ellen, Davenport, Iowa, Timothy, DeWitt, Iowa, and Patrick and his wife Chris, DeWitt, Iowa; and a daughter, Lynne Ishak and her husband Magdi, Southborough, Mass a sister, Mary Manship, Coolidge, Arizona; as well as many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, an infant son, his parents, his older brothers, Jack, Joseph and Bennedict Hunter, as well as his sister, Florence Kolaski.
