He was born Jan 10, 1898, in St Patrick, Missouri, a son of Mr and Mrs Michael J Delaney. The family moved to Oklahoma when he was a small boy. He attended school near Carnegie Oklahoma. He was born Jan 10, 1898, in St Patrick, Missouri, a son of Mr and Mrs Michael J Delaney. The family moved to Oklahoma when he was a small boy. He attended school near Carnegie Oklahoma. In 1914, the family moved to Montana and homesteaded south of the Snowy Mountains near Clara in Central Montana. Mr Delaney worked at the neighboring J B Elliott ranch and later at a Billings dairy. He later worked for several years at pumping stations for the Great Northern Railroad at Belmont and Judith Gap. He farmed in the Belmont area until 1931 when he rented the Bar L C Ranch northwest of Hilger which he later purchased. He married Virginia Miller Sept 8, 1934, in Winifred. They lived on the ranch until 1953 when, due to his ill health, they moved to Lewistown. He continued in ranch operations until his retirement in 1963. He was a member of St Leo's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Lewistown Council 1508. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St Leo's Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Creel-Morrison-Retz Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Eugene Pigeon, Valley City ND; Mrs Tom Wambeke, Butet, MT; Mrs Gail Barnes, Christina MT and Daisy Delaney, Phoenix, Arizona; four sisters, Mrs R B Petty, Mountain View, Oklahoma; Mrs George Meacham, Richland, Washington; Mrs John O'Leary, Polson MT and Mrs Raymond Jump, Klamath Falls, Oregon; three brothers, Joe, Lavina, Edward, Grass Range, James, Lewistown, 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Charles Jerome, sisters, two in infancy and Mrs. Angus (Nancy) McAllister and Mrs Milton (Bess) Rodrick and two brothers, William and Michael. Charley was born in Missouri and moved with his family to Oklahoma when he was a small boy. He attended school near Carnegie. In 1914 the family moved to Montana and homesteaded south of the Snowy Mountains near Clara in central Montana. Charley worked at the neighboring J B Elliott ranch and later at a Billings dairy. He worked for several years at pumping stations for the Great Northern Railroad at Belmont and Judith Gap. He farmed in the Belmont area until 1931 when he started managing the Lutheran Church Ranch (Bar LC) thirteen miles northwest of Hilger. He married Virginia Miller in 1934 and they purchased the ranch in late 1944 and lived there until 1953 when, due to his ill health, they moved to Lewistown. He continued in the ranch operations until his retirement in 1963. Virginia grew up in the Lincoln, Nebraska and Winifred, Montana areas. She was a two year graduate of Eastern Montana Normal School, Billings Mt. She taught four years in rural schools of Fergus County. She and Charley enjoyed gardening, their family and grandchildren. After Charley's death, Virginia married William J. 'Bill' Shell on September 15, 1972. They were married for 21 1/2 years before his death on March 21, 1994.
