Read More	CHARLES PEARCE IS CALLED BY DEATH Suffered Nervous Breakdown Five Weeks Ago, Was Editor of Winnetoon Pioneer for Twelve Years It is with profound regret that we are called upon to chronicle the passing of Charles Pearce, editor of the Winnetoon Pioneer, who passed away at his home in Winnetoon, on Wednesday morning, August 31, at 3 o'clock. Mr.Pearce was taken sick five weeks ago with a severe nervous breakdown and although he received the best of care and medical attention, he gradually grew weaker until he answered the summons on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, August 24, he was taken to Norfolk for medical treatment but the doctor there held out no encouragement for his recovery, and he was brought back to his home in Winnetoon on Thursday where he was made as comfortable as possible. Charles Pearce was born at Adamsville, Wisconsin, on December 10, 1858, being 62 years, 8 months and 21 days of age at the time of his death. In 1892 he came to Nebraska locating at Winnetoon and for some time made his home with his sister, Mrs. Seth Jones. Prior to that he had made his home at Ashland, Wisconsin. On May 8, 1901, he was married to Mary A. Van Horn at Norfolk, Nebr., and together with his wife has since made his home at Winnetoon. He was engaged in the drug store business and also was postmaster at Winnetoon for several years, but the last twelve years has been editor of the Winnetoon Pioneer, and as such devoted much time to the boosting and upbuilding of that town. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Creighton and has been a member of the Woodman lodge at Winnetoon for the past twenty-three years. Besides his wife, Mrs. Charles Pearce, there are left to mourn, two brothers and five sisters; Geo. Pearce of Ashland, Wis., and Richard Pearce of Hollandale, Wis., Mrs. Seth Jones, Winnetoon, Mrs. E.A. Tomkins, Mrs. Willians C. Morris, Mrs. M.A. Born and Mrs. Frank French, all of Wis. Mr. Pearce was a man who was a firm friend and possessed many friends. His lovable and sympathetic nature made him quick to respond to every call of distress and to comfort the suffering. He was energetic, active and loyal and his passing will be a direct lose to the newspaper fraternity of northeast Nebraska. His spirit was indefatigable, and he seemed unconscious of the fact that there would come a time when the physical endurance must break under a heavy load, so he labored on until over work resulted in a nervous breakdown. The devotion of his loving wife during his last sickness inured greatly to his comfort, and although past the aid of medical science, careful nursing bouyed up his courage to the highest point of resistance. To the sorrowing widow and bereaved relatives we assure them of our heartfelt sympathy, and that we with them will cherish his memory and good work. The funeral will be held at Winnetoon, Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Bressler, Pastor of the M.E.
