Description	:	Charles was the son of John Andrew O'Neal and Elizabeth Frederick. He married Emma Towers about 1877. They were the parents of Kate Blanche, Maude M, and John T. Feb 15 1928 - Carroll Times - Seventy-five birthdays rest lightly on the shoulders of Charles O'Neal janitor of Carroll high school, who on Monday, February 6, passed the three-quarters of a century milestone. In his 11 years service aa janitor, he has missed but a few days on account of illness. Rain or shine, in heat or cold, he is to be found at his various duties, which include such tasks as firing the furnaces keeping the interior of the high school building in spic and span condition, doing miscellaneous repair work, and keeping the lawn and shrubs in the finest condition. These duties are enough to tax the strength of a much younger man, but "Charlie" finds his years no handicap. A brickmaker by trade, he came to Carroll in 1880, soon after the big fire, and opened a plant west of town, where for 35 years he supplied bricks for many downtown buildings as well as the North grade school building. When competition from larger plants became too keen, he abandoned his trade. Mr. O'Neal has a large fund of the town's history at his command and relates many interesting and instructive incidents of the towns early history and advancements. He is a friend to all the students and faculty who join with the staff in wishing him many more happy years.
