Description	:	Charles Doty 75, of Ajo, Arizona, formerly of Hawarden, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Banner Estrella Hospital in Phoenix, AZ after a lengthy battle with COPD. Charles was born December 9, 1937 in Hawarden, Iowa to Ralph and Viola (Fleshman) Doty. He graduated from Hawarden High School and married Linda Hodgson July, 15th 1957. Read More	Charles Doty 75, of Ajo, Arizona, formerly of Hawarden, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Banner Estrella Hospital in Phoenix, AZ after a lengthy battle with COPD. Charles was born December 9, 1937 in Hawarden, Iowa to Ralph and Viola (Fleshman) Doty. He graduated from Hawarden High School and married Linda Hodgson July, 15th 1957. He attended college at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota and graduated in 1964. He taught Industrial Arts and Mathematics classes at Vermillion High School and Hammond, Wisconsin. He was later employed as a package engineer at the 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. The family moved back to Iowa in 1975. There, he occupied himself with farming and worked as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor for Sioux County Iowa. He later began a retail business in Hawarden with his wife Linda. In the fall of 2002, the couple made their winter home in Ajo, Arizona and eventually adopted Ajo as their permanent home. Charles is survived by his wife, Linda; three sons, Scott and Sue Doty of Sioux City, Iowa and their son Adam and daughter Jessica, and granddaughter, Makayla, Randy Doty of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and his 4 children, Kathrine, Jillian, Nicholas, and Elizabeth and Donald and Megan Doty of Omaha, Nebraska and their sons Isaac and Sam; his sister, Charlene George and her husband Robert of Anamosa, Iowa; his niece, Nancy Miesner; and nephews, Steve George and David George. Charles especially enjoyed the outdoors, riding horseback, and touring on his motorcycle with his white Schnauzer, Rugger. He loved visiting his grandchildren and being with friends on picnics in the desert. During the last months of his life, he filled his time keeping up with current events and politics and loved to share information with friends on the internet. Through his illness, he was sustained by his faith in God and the love of his family. Memorial services are planned at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Saturday, October 26th at 10 AM.
