Description	:	Ray Harvey. 69 522 N. 2nd St., died Monday at the Marshalltown Area Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week. Born May 3, 1914, at Van Meter he was the son of Charles and Blanche Harvey. When he was young. the family moved to Marshalltown and he received his education in the Marshalltown schools and also attended Central Iowa Business College. Read More	Ray Harvey. 69 522 N. 2nd St., died Monday at the Marshalltown Area Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week. Born May 3, 1914, at Van Meter he was the son of Charles and Blanche Harvey. When he was young. the family moved to Marshalltown and he received his education in the Marshalltown schools and also attended Central Iowa Business College. During and after his school years, he was active in baseball and softball, having been a member of a baseball team which won the state title for three consecutive years. Under the sponsorship of the American Legion. the team also participated in national competition. He was also active in softball in following years as both a coach and player. On Sept. 2. 1933, he was married to Mary Jane Lukehart and they have always made their home in Marshalltown, except for the past eight years spent in Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. Harvey was employed for 24 years at Marshall Canning Co. and when the company closed, he was employed at Lennox Industries, where he was a project engineer for 23 years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marines with two years in the Quartermaster Department in Hawaii. Mr. Harvey was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Preceding him in death were a sister and one brother. Surviving are his widow, Mary and a son and a daughter, Dr. E R. Harvey and Betty (Mrs. James) iBarlow, both of Marshalltown. Also surviving are five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Ora Harvey, Marshalltown. Services will be held at the chapel of the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev Dennis Bailey, associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial with flag folding ceremony will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. from Marshalltown IA newspaper Times Republican dated April 17 1984.
