Later in life, he and his family moved to Washington State and then to California. Dallas became his home after 2000. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, William Solomon King and Clemma Armada Granget King; his brothers, Thurrell Ladell, William Wenzell and Joel Earl; his sisters, Mabel Dellouries Knowles, Mavis Francis Peavyhouse and Thelma Louise Kolbo; and his nieces, Patricia Knowles, Patsy Mills and Margaret Jones. He is survived by his brothers, Samuel Martin of Bow, WA, Ross Leroy of Ontario, OR and Harley Hillbert of Bremerton, WA. He is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A Memorial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Leavenworth Nazarene Church, 111 Ski Hill Road, Leavenworth, WA. Burial will follow at Old Leavenworth Cemetery on North Road. A repast will follow the funeral at the Leavenworth Nazarene Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Charles King to The Women's Resource Center, Attn: Shirl Bradford, P.O. Arrangements handled by Ward's Funeral Home, Dan Scott, Director, 303 Pine Street, Leavenworth, WA 98826, (509)-548-7011.∼Charles King of Dallas, one of the founders and best known members of an informal club called the Keller Rat Pack, died about 11:30 last Thursday night on Interstate 635 in Garland, Texas. The Rat Pack take their name from a place called Keller’s Drive-In In Dallas. The four purposes of the club are hamburgers, beer, riding motorcycles and charity. Charles King was born in Arkansas, raised in California and Washington and spent almost 60 years riding. He was a retired iron worker who was married and divorced twice. He died without a family, with dozens of friends, with a million memories and probably not a single regret. Most summers, King rode from Texas to California and up the coast to Washington. He died a mile from home. King was riding next to a companion when both bikes were bumped by an unidentified dark-colored car. King’s companion stayed up but King went down and when he did he was immediately run over by a tractor-trailer rig. Police have no leads. He is survived by his girlfriend Sandy Seibert. Charles King was 72-years-old and he died on his motorcycle.
