Description	:	UNION -- Charles Richard Gowan Sr., 69, of 1023 Meansville Road died Feb. 26, 2001, at his home. A native of Spartanburg, he was the husband of Helen Tucker Gowan and son of the late Walter Richard and Willie Mae Adams Gowan. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 75 and was a former member of several musical bands. Read More	UNION -- Charles Richard Gowan Sr., 69, of 1023 Meansville Road died Feb. 26, 2001, at his home. A native of Spartanburg, he was the husband of Helen Tucker Gowan and son of the late Walter Richard and Willie Mae Adams Gowan. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 75 and was a former member of several musical bands. In addition, he was a 1951 Union High School graduate, a Korean War veteran and a retired supervisor from the City of Union Water Works. Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Charles R. Gowan Jr. and Alan Lee Gowan, both of Union; one sister, Patricia G. Hicks of Union; and three grandsons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Holcombe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at New Life Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Clarence Adkins, Ron Culberson and Ken Snead. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home, 1023 Meansville Road, Union.
