Charles Ritter was born in Salem township, Steuben county, Indiana, and was the eldest son of Simon and Helen Ritter. He was an exemplary young man and highly esteemed by all. He was a member of the M. E. church and the Knights of Pythias lodge, the funeral services being held under the auspices of the latter. Charles Ritter was born in Salem township, Steuben county, Indiana, and was the eldest son of Simon and Helen Ritter. He was an exemplary young man and highly esteemed by all. He was a member of the M. E. church and the Knights of Pythias lodge, the funeral services being held under the auspices of the latter. The spirit of Christian resignation and fortitude with which he bore his long and painful sickness was an inspiration to all. It is a great thing to see a man triumph over death through the power of a living faith. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Friday, April 7th, Rev. E.S. Smith, officiating. Burial at Mt. Zion. IN MEMORIAM Through the wise and loving providence of our Father above, it is good that we, His children, be called home one by one, to enter into the eternal rest prepared for us in the Temple above. For as the silver cord be loosed, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, then shall the dust return to the God who gave it. We bend our heads meekly to the crosses laid upon us by a loving hand, and when our names are called, wrap the drapery of the couch about us and trusting in the merits of Jesus, lie down to pleasant dreams. But no less do we mourn those who go before us leaving our ranks. Resolved-That we as Rathbone Sisters of Angola, deeply deplore the loss of our dead. It is with pain and sorrow that we have to record the death of our brother, Charles Ritter. The Angel of Death having darkened his home, taking our dear one, let us weep not as those having no hope, but rather, look forward to the grand reunion in that grand Temple above not made with hands and "where parting is known no more forever." Resolved-That we extend to the bereaved family our fraternal sympathy; that a copy of these resolutions be given to the family of the deceased, and that a copy be furnished to each of the Angola papers. Elizabeth Davis, WHEREAS-God in His infinite wisdom and mercy has removed from our midst our brother, Charles Ritter, and WHEREAS-By his quiet and unassuming demeanor, his honest dealings with his fellow men, and by his upright character, he endeared himself to all who knew him, and during his long illness he bore his intense sufferings with christian-like fortitude, always relying on Him "who doeth all things well, and ever believing that life is eternal, he passed to that bourne from whence no traveler returns. His memory will be cherished in Friendship, Charity and Benevolence by the members of Angola lodge, No. 206, Knights of Pythias. Therefore be it Resolved-That his chair in the lodge room be draped for thirty days, that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of this lodge, and a copy be delivered to the members of his family, and also published in the Angola papers.
