Lippincott, one of the prosperous and well known farmers living on Elm Island died at his home Sunday morning about nine o'clock following an illness of several days with pneumonia. Other members of his family had been ill with the influenza and it is possible that while caring for them he contracted the disease. His illness soon developed into pneumonia, which resulted in his death. Charles R. Lippincott was born at West Newton, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, May 3, 1878, and at the time of his death was 41 years, nine months and nineteen days old. His parents, James F. and Jane S. (Vance) Lippincott came to Nebraska when he was but one month old and the family located in Fillmore county. A short time later they removed to Gosper county, and in 1883 they settled in Buffalo county. Upon coming to this county they located on a farm on Elm Island five miles south of Shelton. During his boyhood and youth Charles Lippincott assisted his father on the farm and by the time he had reached his majority he was thoroughly familiar with agricultural work, this knowledge enabling him to assume charge of the home farm in 1899. He has since been engaging in farming and stock raising and and his farm which comprises three hundred and forty acres, is one of the best tracts of land along the Platte river bottom. On August 28, 1898, Mr. Lippincott was united in marriage to Miss Olga Moldrup, and to this union seven children were born. They are: Mrs. James Mills of Kenesaw, Mrs. Verl Brown of Denman, Sadie and Abbie, who have been attending high school at Kenesaw, and Ethel, Maxine and Marjorie, at home. His mother, two sisters and one brother, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and seven daughters, his father, James F. Lippincott of Independence, Missouri; three brothers, J. D. of Hastings, W. J. of Morrill and K. A. of Laramie, Wyoming. Two sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Isaac buck of McAllen, Texas and Mrs. C. C. Petersen of Independence, Missouri. He also leaves four small grand-children. Mr. Lippincott has lived on Elm island for 37 years and his friends were numbered by the score. He was a quiet, industrious and useful citizen, a man of plain tastes and a pleasant, genial disposition. It was apparent that he enjoyed life to the fullest extent, and was greatly devoted to his family and friends. Shooting ducks, geese, and other wild game was a favorite pastime of his, and he was well known throughout the country among gun club members who frequently came here and made his home their headquarters. He has been a resident of Elm island so long and has been so much a part of the community life in that neighborhood, that his untimely death can hardly be realized. He was a strong, robust man, and one who it seemed could have withstood any illness. Funeral services were held at the family home yesterday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by Rev. C. H. Porter of Wilbur, a life long friend of the family. Burial took place in the Shelton cemetery. The pallbearers were: Floyd Whiting, Henry Vena, Sig Blue, Will Ramsey , Fred Stade, Adrian Ellis, Roy Rayback and Charles Heiser.
