Description	:	VALPARAISO — Charles Russell Timmons, 63, of Valparaiso, went home to be with his Lord on July 6, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Anderson, on Aug. 18, 1945, the son of Francis T. and Grace E. Hough-Timmons. He was a retired electrician and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Charles was a hard worker with a gentle spirit that touched everyone. He lived out his faith, prayed fervently, loved his grandchildren and helped others. Born in Anderson, on Aug. 18, 1945, the son of Francis T. and Grace E. Hough-Timmons. He was a retired electrician and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Charles was a hard worker with a gentle spirit that touched everyone. He lived out his faith, prayed fervently, loved his grandchildren and helped others. He will be long remembered for his quick wit and sweet smile. Charles was a faithful member of Living Word Sanctuary in Portage, and treasured friend of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville, Va. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Roberts and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Emma and Hanna of Earlysville, Va., who cared for him during his illness; a stepdaughter, Sharon of Dayton, Texas; and grandchildren, Jacob, Alyssa and Madison. He is also survived by his siblings; Delores Timmons of Indianapolis, Terry Timmons of Wannatah, Janet Criger of Indianapolis, and Gary Timmons and Sue Leibelshon, Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 19 years, Janet Timmons. Services will be at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg on Saturday; viewing at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at the Brownsburg Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Charles's name to the University of Virginia Neuro-Oncology Program, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908.
