Description	:	Charles Schaekel, one of the best-known farmers of the county, died at his home southwest of Tipton at 6:15 Saturday morning, death following an illness of two years, he having been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. Read More	Charles Schaekel, one of the best-known farmers of the county, died at his home southwest of Tipton at 6:15 Saturday morning, death following an illness of two years, he having been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. With the passing of this splendid citizen and a man who did his full share to develop the county in which he resided for 42 years. The death of this man, who was loved and respected by all, is a severe blow to the family and friends and the community generally. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Sophia Schaekel, and several children: Mrs. Fred Tieteman, Mrs. Elmer Leininger, Andrew Schaekel, Fred Schaekel, Jr., William Schaekel, Mrs. Edgar Leininger and William Schaekel all residing in this county. He is also survived by two brothers, Christopher, a twin, who resides in Hancock County and one brother in Germany. Fifteen grandchildren also survive this well-liked German citizen. Funeral services will be conducted at the Lutheran Church, in Tipton, Tuesday morning at 10:30, Rev. Theo. Schwan officiating and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Charles Schaekel was born in Germany February 2, 1852, coming to this country when 27 years of age. He came straight to Indianapolis and secured employment on a farm in Marion County. In that county, he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Achgill and shortly thereafter, they came to Tipton County buying a farm which is a part of the Nash farm. This was later sold and he located on the farm on which his death occurred. The deceased was an industrious, strictly honest citizen whose friends were many and his passing is a distinct loss to the community in which he spent the greater part of his life.
