Description	:	Charles Shannon Bruton Shannon was born on May 27, 1932, on the family farm near Olton, Texas, and passed away on September 28, 2016, in Yakima. He was the fourth of five children born to Charles and Clara (Moore) Bruton. At the age of four, Shannon moved with his family to Denver, Colorado, and one year later to Conway, Arkansas, where his parents farmed. He attended elementary school in Conway. Read More	Charles Shannon Bruton Shannon was born on May 27, 1932, on the family farm near Olton, Texas, and passed away on September 28, 2016, in Yakima. He was the fourth of five children born to Charles and Clara (Moore) Bruton. At the age of four, Shannon moved with his family to Denver, Colorado, and one year later to Conway, Arkansas, where his parents farmed. He attended elementary school in Conway. At the age of twelve, he and his parents moved to Yakima, where his father worked on the construction of the Hanford project. Shannon attended Washington Junior High and Yakima High School, graduating in 1950. He also attended Yakima Valley College and Technical Training Institute of Portland. He was the loving husband of his best friend, Laurinda (Rinnie) Kjolaas Bruton. They were married on July 20, 1951, in the First Baptist Church of Yakima. Shannon loved the Lord and was a member of the Highland Community Church. He went to work for Pacific Tel & Tel (later became US West) in Yakima in 1956, retiring in 1987. He then worked for the Highland School District for seven years. Shannon was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the West Valley and Highland fire departments for 30 years. Shannon is survived by one son, Jon and wife Carol (Card) Bruton; one daughter, Laurie and husband Mike Messenger; two granddaughters, Erin and husband Jessie Dell, and Michele Oberg; four great-grandsons, Auston and Hunter Dell and Odin and Oliver Oberg; one sister, Charla and husband Mark Johnson; sister-in-law, Effie Brown; a niece and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2015; his parents; one brother, Glenn Bruton; two sisters, Charlsie Rippee and Margaret Willard; two brothers-in-law, Ernie Willard and Robert Rippee; two nieces and one nephew. Viewing will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Concluding services and burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
