Read More	Obituary: CAPTAIN ALDRICH DIES SUDDENLY, Was Stricken While Attending Church Last Sunday At Home In Elmwood, Nebraska A message received here Sunday afternoon by his sisters told of the sudden death while attending church of Charles S. Aldrich of Elmwood, Nebraska. While Mr. Aldrich's health has not been rugged in recent months, he had been no worse apparently and news of his death came as a great shock to his Tipton relatives and friends. Charles was a member of one of the best known pioneer families of this county, his father being W. W. Aldrich, of the long time family home on the farm just west of Tipton. After graduating from the Tipton schools, he attended the state university where he graduated from the law school. He served for a number of years as U. S. Commissioner in Alaska, later locating in Marshalltown to practice his profession. During the Spanish-American War he served as Captain of Co. H., of the 49th Iowa which was recruited in Marshalltown. He was married in Marshalltown to Miss Bess Streeter of Cedar Falls who with three children survive him. Following his return from the war Capt. Aldrich came to Tipton where he served as cashier of the Tipton Savings bank for a few years, and then went to Elmwood where he has been engaged in banking for ten years or longer. Charles Aldrich was a man of the finest type of character, liked and respected by every one who came in contact with him and there will be many to mourn his death. His sisters, Mrs. Edw. Dean and Mrs. P. D. Ketelsen left at once, after receiving word of his death, for Elmwood to attend the funeral. Source: The Tipton Advertiser, Tipton, Iowa, May 7, 1925
