Description	:	Charles W. Gillespie, 90, widower of the late Margaret Price Gillespie and a lifelong resident of Westminster, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Olive Abbott Gillespie. Mr. Gillespie was a 1945 Seneca High School graduate and a graduate of Furman University of 1948. Gillespie, 90, widower of the late Margaret Price Gillespie and a lifelong resident of Westminster, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Olive Abbott Gillespie. Mr. Gillespie was a 1945 Seneca High School graduate and a graduate of Furman University of 1948. He retired from the Bank of Westminster where he worked for over 43 years. He was a member of the Seneca American Legion Post 120, served as a past President of the Westminster Rotary Club, served on the Westminster City Council and the Oconee County Planning Commission. He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church where he served in the Barraca Sunday School Class and a past choir member. Mr. Gillespie also was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include a son, Charles W. Chuck Gillespie and wife Sharon of Summerville, SC; daughter, Anne G. Mize and husband Eddie of Seneca; brother-in-law, Clayton Price and wife Kay of Franklin, TN; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Cleveland and Beth Blackman. A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seneca Baptist Church Building Fund, 1080 S.
