Kelley, 86, of Garden Lakes Estates Drive, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of East Palestine, died Saturday afternoon at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton where he had been a patient. Born Dec. 9, 1925, in East Palestine, he was the son of the late Wesley and Fannie Hunston Kelley. Mr. Kelley had been employed with Standard Slag of Youngstown for 40 years, holding various capacities with the company, including assistant secretary, assistant treasurer, and controller, a position which he held when he retired in 1989. Kelley, 86, of Garden Lakes Estates Drive, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of East Palestine, died Saturday afternoon at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton where he had been a patient. Born Dec. 9, 1925, in East Palestine, he was the son of the late Wesley and Fannie Hunston Kelley. Mr. Kelley had been employed with Standard Slag of Youngstown for 40 years, holding various capacities with the company, including assistant secretary, assistant treasurer, and controller, a position which he held when he retired in 1989. He was a World War II Naval veteran and a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. He had served on the East Palestine City Council and the Board of Education. His wife, the former L. Joanne Lawrence, whom he married May 20, 1950, preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2002. He also was preceded by a son, Larry Kelly, on Oct. 7, 2010. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Jo (Tom) Brittain of Columbiana; and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home (www.oliver-linsley.com) with his pastor, the Rev. Mark McTrustry, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church Trustees or to the East Palestine Memorial Public Library.
