He was born July 18, 1867, on the same farm where he lived most of his life, the son of Washington and Rachel Strange Olney. He was married to Mary Vashit Gleen in August 1897 in Wapello county. She died in 1941. He was a member of the Columbia Methodist church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Russell of Beloit, Wisc., and Mrs. Mildred Carlson of Cedar Rapids; a son, Glenn Olney of Downers Grove, Ill.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Wilson Hyde, pastor of the Wesley Methodist church in charge. Burial will be in the Columbia cemetery.
