Description	:	HAWARDEN, Iowa -- Charles William Sederstrom "Chuck" died Saturday morning, June 5, 2010, at Auburn Manor in Chaska, Minn. Chuck had been in a comatose state since the age of 29, when in January 1990 he fell asleep at the wheel and rolled his car. Chuck never regained consciousness after the accident and remained in a coma for 20-and-one-half years. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden. Condolences may be sent to porterfuneralhomes.com. Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden is assisting the family. Chuck was born June 9, 1960, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Eugene "Swede" and Aida Sederstrom. He spent most of his growing up years in the Sioux Falls and Hawarden area. At 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighting 145 pounds; Chuck was pound-for-pound one of the toughest men around, and his personality and self-confidence naturally attracted people to him. For fun Chuck was a member of the PRCA (Pro Rodeo Championship Association) and rode bulls in competition rodeos around the Midwest, Texas, and Oklahoma. Chuck's work life involved hanging red iron steel erecting steel buildings and operating Swedes Bar in Hawarden. In his spare time, Chuck would break or train horses for friends and others. In fact three days after his first bull ride in which he broke two ribs; he got onto a horse and was training it to obey his commands. Chuck showed no fear when it came to what ever challenge that came across his path. Family and friends who knew Chuck remembered him as one who loved horses, pushed himself to the limit, and was filled with life. One could say he lived more in his first 29 years of life than most people do in their entire lives. He was loved and will be deeply missed! Chuck is survived by his daughter, Jessica of Warrensburg, Mo.; granddaughter, Lillianna Rose of Warrensburg, Mo.; and sons, Cody of Hawarden, Justin of Hawarden; stepmother, Virginia of Hawarden; brothers, Steve of York, Pa., Gene of Victoria, B.C., David Robert "Bob" McCardle of St. Louis, Mo.; and sister, Marie McCardle of Chaska, Minn.
