Burial in Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman. Mr. Fanton died of multiple sclerosis on Tuesday at the home after a six-year illness. A retired chemical salesman, he was born in Clinton and lived in Des Moines before moving to the home in Marshalltown 17 months ago. He was a member of Auburn Masonic Lodge, Highland Park American Legion, Post B.P.O. Elks in Fort Dodge, and the United Methodist Church. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Marsha Pugh and Mrs. Karen Lidke, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Alyssa Fanton of Austin, Minnesota; three sons, Dana of Marietta, Georgia, and Jeffry and Michael, both of Austin; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. L.D. Fanton of Des Moines; a brother Donald of Fairfield, California; and four grandchildren.
