Description	:	Charles William Finter, 92, of 3 Hite Spring Dr., Luray, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Timberview Crossing Assisted Living in Timberville. He was born on October 22, 1922, in Luray and was a son of the late Roy I. Finter and Kathleen Rickard Finter. Mr. Finter was an engineer for NASA for 35 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the NRA, White Stone Stepping Stones and was the oldest Harley member. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was born on October 22, 1922, in Luray and was a son of the late Roy I. Finter and Kathleen Rickard Finter. Mr. Finter was an engineer for NASA for 35 years, retiring in 1977. On April 5, 1946, he married Consuelo Valerie DeGaetano Finter, who preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Marilyn Finter-Myracle of Linville; a sister, Marie Simpson of Luray; a granddaughter, Victoria Marilyn Mannion of Singers Glen; a grandson, Patrick Michael Myracle of Harrisonburg; and a son-in-law, J. Mark Mannion of Linville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Vance Finter; and a sister, Janet Hall. A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, November 8, at the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray, with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
