Description	:	Charles W. Iske, 77 years, of North Bend, Nebraska died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his home. Charles was born to Leonard and Clare (Gaughen) Iske in rural Dodge, Nebraska on February 18, 1939. Charles grew up on a farm west of Webster. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1956, and went on to farm with his father. Charles served in the Army Reserves from 1962-1968. Charles was born to Leonard and Clare (Gaughen) Iske in rural Dodge, Nebraska on February 18, 1939. Charles grew up on a farm west of Webster. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1956, and went on to farm with his father. Charles served in the Army Reserves from 1962-1968. On September 12, 1965, Charles married Gorgene Dunklau at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont, Nebraska. They lived northwest of North Bend until 2001 when they moved into town. Charles farmed full-time until 1986, when he began driving truck for Bell Creek of Arlington. He later drove for Dolezal Sand and Gravel, and Reznicek Farms part time. Charles was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend, AmVets Post #20 of North Bend, and the North Bend Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, Gorgene; daughters, Laurie (Jim) Griswa of Omaha, Nebraska, Kathy (Tom) Mensik and Christine Balch, both of Morse Bluff, Nebraska; sons, Steven (Tori) Iske of Canyon City, Oregon, Daniel (Stacy) Iske of Sutherland, Nebraska and Carl (Kari) Iske of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Michael and Justin Mensik, Katelyn Iske, Evan and Kaylea Balch, and Caiden and Kloee Iske; sisters, Mary Jean Paup of Port Angeles, Washington and Helen (Ken) Tallerico of Sacramento, California; sisters-in-law, Marian Lottman and Linda (Larry) Shepard both of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marge Iske; brothers-in-law, Martin Paup and Earl Lottman. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend. The Rev. Christopher Howell will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the church with a prayer service at 7 PM. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the V.F.W. Post #8223 and AmVets Post #20 of North Bend and American Legion Post #340 of Morse Bluff will be at Woodland Cemetery in North Bend. Memorials to St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Morse Bluff/North Bend Veterans Memorial Park, North Bend Library or the North Bend Central Foundation.
