Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Kroese was born on August 21, 1930, in rural Hull, the son of William and Minnie (Te Slaa) Kroese. He was raised at Hull and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On December 1, 1955, he married Nelvina Joan Elbers in Steen, Minnesota. They made their home at Hull, where they farmed his family home place most of the time. For four years in the 1980s, he was involved in the Dordt College Agricultural Stewardship Center in Sioux Center. In 1993, he also became a feed truck driver for the Hull Cooperative Association. On November 1, 1999, they moved into Hull, where he continued to deliver feed. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as a deacon and an elder, taught Sunday school classes and belonged to the Berean Society, He was also a member of the board of directors of Hull Christian School and the Wegman-Koele American Legion Post in Hull. He liked spending time with his children and grandchildren, often traveling to visit family. He enjoyed singing, especially as a member of the Kroese Quartet. Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years; five children, Wanda, Brian, William, Joel, and Connie; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Verna, Hester and Joan; and several nephews and nieces. Memorials may be directed to the Christian mission or educational institution of your choice.
