Description	:	Charles Funfar worked in Germany, he was a carpenter by trade. His parents, and family lived in Czecoslovkia. They were all going to come to America but his younger brother didn't have enough money so Charley gave his money to his younger brother and he went back to work for 2 years. His parents, and family lived in Czecoslovkia. They were all going to come to America but his younger brother didn't have enough money so Charley gave his money to his younger brother and he went back to work for 2 years. The family came to America, stopped in Pittsburg, Penn where the younger brother, Frank, stayed and worked in a tailor shop. The rest of the family came to Myrtle Minn. Two years later Charley came to America at 31 yrs old. He took the train west, as he was standing in the back of the train askes flew in his eyes and he was almost blinded. He went to Myrtle, Minn and 6 mo later left for Wahpeton, N.Dak. This is where he met Margarett Magdelon Miller. She had one brother, Frank, and one sister, Mrs Tailor. Margrett and Charles were married in Wahpeton and they lived there for several years. Their first three children were born there. Later they moved to Lidgerwood, N.Dak. and settled on a farm 1 mile west of town. This is where the other children were born. Magdeline was a good cook and always had some goodies in the house. She would read stories to her children at bed time, and she taught them to pray in Bohemian. She was a good hearted person. She would get material as a birthday or Christmas present and the instead of using it for herself would sew dresses for her daughters. They lived three miles from the country school where the children walked to school. Bessie said she remembers "there was always lunch ready for them when they got home". Bessie also told about the time Ardella was just 2 and she was playing outside in the yard, she had on a red dress and a turkey gobbler must not have liked red because it took after Ardella...Mother funfar was fixing dinner and she came out with the butcher knife and grabbed the turkey by the neck and cut off its head. They all enjoyed turkey dinner the next day. Charles Funfar farmed and also worked as a carpenter in Lidgerwood. He built many houses. He too was a good hearted man and helped many in need. Their home was close to the railroad track so it got to be a stop off for many bums. It is believed they marked a tree or post so that other bums would know this was a good place to stop when hungry.
