He was born in Charlottesville on December 17, 1944, a son of the late Charlie Joseph Truslow Sr. and Minnie Hughes Truslow. Jr. was a retired disabled United States Army veteran, was a member of the disabled veterans, the VFW Post # 9794 and Wintergreen Christian Church. His hobbies included cracking walnuts, cutting grass wherever he could find it and "joy riding" in his electric wheelchair. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Dorothy Carr Truslow; sons, Charlie Joseph Truslow III and his wife, Tammy, and James Vernon Truslow and his wife, Courtney; a daughter, Janice Truslow Rodgers and her husband, Will; brothers, William Shepard Truslow and Timothy Dale Truslow; sisters, Frances Grant and her husband, Duck, and Lindsay Davis and her husband, George; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Dakota, Joey, McKenzie, Delanie, Parker and Rylee; a special niece, Tammy Giles and her husband, Steve, and their three children; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011, at Wintergreen Christian Church by Mr. Robert Mansfield. Burial with Military Honors by VFW Post # 7701 to follow at the Truslow family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
