John W. and Susannah (Crawford) Chase. Born in Oxford county Canda Jan 31. 1853 and died 9 July 1929 in Glidden. At the age of two she moved with her parents to Clay Co. John W. and Susannah (Crawford) Chase. Born in Oxford county Canda Jan 31. 1853 and died 9 July 1929 in Glidden. At the age of two she moved with her parents to Clay Co. Iowa and at fifteen years of age she came to Cedar Twp. Greene Co. where her father died. When she married George Dillavou they movd to a farm in Greene Co. Iowa where she raised her nine children, three of them preceded her in death, Rossie, Fern, and Joy, the latter making the supreme sacrifice in the late World War I., the remaining children are: Malhon J. Dillavou and Genevra Davis of Glidden; Statton G. Dillavou and Essie Allstot of Scranton; Maude Whiting of Lake City; and Wayne E. Dillavou of Austin Minn. In the year of 1907, Mr. & Mrs. Dillavou moved to a small farm north of Glidden, and 1919 the moved to their present home in Glidden, where on Mar 13, 1929, they observed their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs Dillavou was converted when a mere girl and was a faithful Christian during her lifetime. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Glidden at the time of her death. For some time she had been in poor health and a stroke early in the winter left her in such a physical condition that she failed to make any improvement when she died at her home in Glidden.
