Description	:	Mrs. Lottie Royle, 81, mother of Jess Royle of Mitchell, Herbert Royle of Haig, and Ralph Royle of Scottsbluff, died Friday, April 10 at Ansley. Her children include: Clara, Lorenzo, Alfred, Bertha (Pierce), Arthur H., Richard T., May, Edward, Ralph, Herbert, Charlotte, Walter, Jesse, Archibald and Alice (source,census records). Funeral services were held Sunday, and interment was in the Pleasant Valley cemetery at rural Pleasanton, Nebraska. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, November 30, 1854, of English parents who later became active Mornmon missionaries in what was then the Nebraska territory. She lived with her parents in old Fort Kearney and other eastern and central Nebraska settlements when she was a child. Her father, Charles Sanders, through his missionary activities became know to the Indians as "Good Charlie." In 1861, when she was seven years old, her father joined a Mormon caravan going to Salt Lake City. Unfriendly Indians caused the caravan to leave its trail on the northern side of the North Platte river. Her father, who had given up titles and nobility rights in England, resided with his family only two years in Utah. They moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where Mrs. Royle grew to womanhood and married Lorenzo Royle, November 29, 1874. She and her husband were pioneer homesteaders in Buffalo county, Nebraska. Since her husband's death in 1922, she has made her home with her children. Mrs. Royle has visited here with her children in this county over long periods of time.
