Description	:	Charlotte was the daughter of Robert Gotham and Dolly Stockwell. On June 2, 1806 in Lancaster, NH she married John Hicks, son of Benjamin Hicks and Alice Hight. They had 14 children, eight of which were still living when she died. They were listed in the following obit: Coos County Democrat, Weds., Oct. 13, 1886, in the "Jefferson Jottings" column: The funeral of Mrs. Charlotte Hicks who died at the residence of her son Royal Hicks in Whitefield, Monday, October 4, was held in the Baptist church, in this town, Wednesday, October 6th. Rev. James Crowley officiated assisted by his choir, N.M. Davenport acted as manager. Mrs. Hicks, had she lived until next May, would have been 97 years old. She was the mother of 14 children, eight of whom are now living, these with their children, grand-children and great-grand-children number over 100. One brother, Robert Gotham of Maidstone, survives her. Her living children are Miranda Stanley, Ransom Hicks, Thomas Hicks of Lancaster, John Hicks of Sanbornton, Mrs. Franklyn (Charlotte) Hicks, Royal Hicks, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Hicks and Mrs. Sarah Mathews. She was a member of the Baptist church. She was predeceased by husband John in 1848; son Benjamin in 1879; son David in 1859. (That leaves four children not accounted for so far). Daughter Mrs Sarah Mathews died one month after Charlotte.
