Charlotte, the daughter of LeRoy and Ella (Davis) Brain was born September 18, 1920, at her parent’s home in Mystic. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1938. Charlotte married Albert C. Auten on February 28, 1942, in Lancaster, Missouri. Charlotte became a certified teacher and taught for two years in Kilduff and several more years at Four Corners School near Kellogg – Kindergarten through 8th grades. She worked for a number of years with her older sister, Madge, sewing custom draperies for Newton Furniture. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many slippers, hot pads, mittens, and afghans for her family. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, integrity, independent spirit, and love for family. Charlotte was a member of Newton Christian Church and Common Threads at Newton Village. Charlotte is survived by her sons, David (Marlene) Auten and Douglas (Mary) Auten; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
